Create a Checklist
Helpful checklists are a quick and easy way to quickly get some high quality, useful content out for your target audience to download. Look at the types of processes you go through with your current clients and create an on paper system for one of those processes you think would be helpful or valuable for your target audience.
Put this system into an easy to follow, step-by-step checklist that can be downloaded from your website and used by potential clients. This will get new leads into your inbound marketing funnel and get people excited about your business again.
Rank Your Industry
A great way to generate some interest and buzz is to create a blog post that ranks some topic or item in your industry. One popular blog that we've found success with is "July's Top 10 XXXXX website links" and then feature 10 of the best blog posts from other websites with a description.
Then when you market your blog post, make sure to tag and mention the website's which made the list. There is a good chance they will repost/retweet your blog and it will create good will between their company and yours. You can view an example of this method that was successful here: "8 Joomla Links You HAVE to See"
Run a Contest
It is really easy to get people excited and engaged by running a fun and creative contest. There are an unlimited number of options for how to run a contest that will engage users, but the key is to get everyone involved and excited and have as much interaction as possible with everyone involved.
If you do run a contest, be strategic in setting up the contest, the rules and the prizes so that you are focusing on a niche audience. Tie the contest back to your core inbound marketing strategy to keep the focus on point.
Three months ago we ran an extremely successful contest which resulted in a huge increase of social media followers, leads and eventually sales. It was a great way to kick start our inbound marketing campaign and really get things moving. You can learn more about this contest here: "How You Can Explode Twitter Followers with a Contest"
Host a Discussion Panel
Gather 2-3 of the industry's top professionals and invite them for an expert discussion on a topic that your target audience would really get excited to hear about. This discussion panel should be about an hour long and really cover some of the key points in that topic matter.
Record the discussion and offer the recording as a free, premium content download on your website for prospective clients to download. This is a great inbound marketing tactic because it requires very little work other than organizing the discussion and can really provide some great content that your target audience will love.
Create a Helpful Workbook
No matter what your business industry is, there are processes that are done on a regular basis. This could be a planning process, operational process or creative process. Whatever the process, you can spin this process into a very helpful workbook that prospective clients can download and use while working through that process for their particular business.
Some good examples of this for the business world include:
- 90 Day Goal Planning Guide
- eBook template and walk though
- Planning guide for running a contest
- Step-By-Step Event Planning and Marketing
These are just a few of the example workbooks that could be created. You can really create a workbook for any process or activity in any niche. It's a great way to provide some valuable content that your target audience will appreciate and use.
There's no definite best answer for how to get your particular inbound marketing campaign rocking again. Each niche and target market is different, but the key is to focus on always keeping things new, fresh and exciting for potential clients. Many marketers get hung up on spending a great deal of their time creating one huge, amazing piece of content and only come out with something new every 2-3 months. A better plan would be to create a medium size piece of content and in the meantime, produce 3-5 smaller pieces like checklists, worksheets, etc.
I will be posting a blog on Wednesday that will give some ideas on how to create quick, easy and valuable content. This is the exact content you should be creating for your business to help supplement the larger content. Make sure to follow our blog to catch that Wednesday.
