The first time using Joomla Content Management System can be confusing. Luckily, we've decided to start a Joomla 101 blog series to help walk you through how to use Joomla. The first article in the series takes a look at how to add an article in Joomla. This tutorial is written about Joomla 1.7, so the menus may look slightly different in other Joomla versions.

Step 1: Posting Starting a New Article in Joomla
It's tough to understand at first how to make words appear on your Joomla! site. To do this you must create an article and linking it to a menu.

You create an article by going to content, article, and then add new article.

Step 2: Filling Out the Information
Once the new article opens up, you wil have a number of blank spaces to enter conetnt. Make sure to review each of them and fill out the correct information. Once the top information is completed, scroll down to the main text area and starts the typing! The most important items to do on this page is to fill out the title field and the article text.

Once you've done this click Save & Close near the top right.

Now that you've created an article and saved it no content will show up on the front of your website unitl you create a menu item for it. Go to Menus, then to your Main Menu, and to Add New Menu Item.

From here you want to select your Menu Item Type as a Single Article, enter the Menu Title, and Select Article. When you select the article select the article that was just created in the case of this tutorial it's called, "Article Title."

Step 3: Save and Review

Once yout have all your information filled out, click the "Save" button on the top right side of the windown. Once saved, open a new browser and visit the page on the front end of your website to check for any sizing or formatting issues. You can go back into your article on the backend of Joomla to make any nessisary adjustments.

The final result should look something like this.
