Taking a look at the statistics, we can see that email marketing has been cited as the overall most effective marketing method of driving sales with direct mail trailing close behind.

It’s no surprise that the general trend of effectiveness is the new technologies such as social media, text messaging and mobile apps prove more effective with the younger crowd and the traditional phone and direct mail is more effective in converting the older generation. One surprising statistic I found was that Facebook is on the verge of overtaking telephone sales. I’m also curious where radio, television and print ads are since they seem to be absent from this survey.

The reality is that deciding how big a role email marketing plays in your overall strategy really depends on the audience you are trying to market to. No matter what demographic this is, email marketing should play some role in converting prospects into sales.
