In the latest version of Hootsuite you are able to download an excel spreadsheet template and then fill it out for as many posts as you'd like and add in scheduling of when they will post.
I've personally used this for when we've hosted an event and I want to schedule in tweets about the event from a month in advance. I will select the time periods I want to send out specific information regarding registration deadlines and reminders and once uploaded, I can set it and forget it.
This is also helpful for those of you who want to add in some "personality" posts. I've used this before when I wanted to schedule in a "Fun Fact of the Day" and create all 30 for the month in advance and schedule them in to post at the same time each day to keep consistency.
Keyword and Person Tracking
If you work in a specific niche industry like we do, it's really important to stay on top of the new chatter that is going on so you can get involved and engage other in that industry. Hootsuite has a really easy way to keep easy track of any search term or individual you want to.
Linkedin Profile and Group Tracking
For those of you who are a part of a handful of Linkedin groups, you know that it can take quite some time to stay on top of 6-10 groups. Hootsuite makes it extremely easy to stay on top
Customizable and Automated Reporting (with white labeling)
Hootsuite PRO members are able to customize some great analytic reports of their social media activity and even include Google Analytics data to track the flow of the visitors finding the site via social media. They allow you to schedule in monthly automated generated reports that can be white labeled with your company's logo and emailed directly to you or your clients.
Managing a Team – Use Assignments Feature
For those of you who are managing a team of individuals at an agency, Hootsuite has a nice little social media team management system that will allow you to delegate out specific tasks and assign them to certain members of the team. This will allow you to keep up to date and in open communication when managing multiple accounts with multiple team members.
Work on Hootsuite Anywhere!
Hootsuite is all cloud hosted which means you can access your platform from anywhere, anytime. Additionally, their mobile app is pretty robust and allows for really easy uploading of picture and videos you've taken while at conferences or around the office.
What's Coming in the Future
Two weeks ago while at Hubspot's Inbound Marketing conference, Inbound 2012, I had a chance to sit down and talk with the Hootsuite team about their product and what was in store for the future. They mentioned that one of their big goals is to continually be working with 3rd party systems and new social media platforms for more integrations. They mentioned did mention that Pinterest integration was likely to come out in the near future along with other popular social media sites.
These are just a few of the cool features that have really help our agency effectively manage both our own social media accounts but also client accounts in one central location. You can actually use Hootsuite with up to 5 accounts for free, however, there are limited features such as the team assignment feature is only available for pro users (only $10/month).
Here at Savvy Panda we are a Hootsuite Solutions Parnter, however, we love learning about all the different management tools. Have you used a social media management software? Which one and what did you like or not like about it. Post in the comments and let's get a discussion going.
